In this episode, we joined by Amanda Rochhio, a well-known health and nutrition blogger with almost 1.5 million loyal followers. Amanda’s content is dedicated to making nutrition easier to understand. She is also the host of her own podcast called, Master Your Health, which she co-hosts with her husband.
In this episode, Amanda and Matt discussed things like how to make informed decisions in the grocery store, the pros and cons of different diets, and working in a nutrition-focused business. The two also talked about what it’s been like starting podcasts and how Amanda manages her day-to-day life.
2:00 – Deciphering Ingredients. “At the end of the day, I really want people to be eating a diet of a majority of whole foods than going for a bunch of these quote-unquote “healthy processed foods.”
8:30 – Excluding Food Groups in Diets. “It’s a tough message to get across how much balance to have in your diet. I suggest not keeping many of these foods in your household – there’s a difference between being flexible with your diet and keeping junk food in your house. Focus mostly on whole foods, have some healthy processed foods in your house, and save the treats, the candies for outside of your home when you go to someone’s birthday party or something like that.”
20:00 – Nutrition-Focused Business. “So that also became part of my mission to show women that eating healthy was about fueling your body, eating the right types of food, but not about starving yourself – it doesn’t work. Crash dieting doesn’t work. Eating 1000 calories a day is not good for you.”
