Today we bring you a special bonus episode of the Momentous Podcast where we’re talking all about our newest product, Momentous Collagen Peptides. I was joined by our Head of Product and Texas Tech Football Strength & Conditioning coach David Scholz, as well as Big Mountain Skier and Momentous athlete Johnny Collinson. We rely heavily on both of them to help us develop products that are designed for high performers and easy to use. As Head of Product at Momentous, Dave leads many of the decisions around product formulations and ingredient sourcing. Johnny, on the other hand, is able to provide an athlete perspective that helps us learn about athlete needs, usability, and flavor testing. For our collagen product in particular, Johnny has been testing the formula since September when he started using it to help him recover from his second ACL surgery.
In this episode, the three of us talked about the science of collagen in the body, how athletes training for different scenarios should use collagen supplementation, why your collagen supplement should include Vitamin C, how to train as you recover from injury, and what makes our FORTIGEL® collagen source so unique.
2:30 – Backgrounds. JC – “The past two years, I’ve had two ACL reconstructions back to back. It was on the same knee. It was fairly devastating. It felt like I had undone all the hard work I put in.”
9:00 – What is Collagen? DS – “Collagen is protein. It is the most abundant protein in the body. It’s in your skin, your muscle, tendons, bones, ligaments, vascular tissue, in the eyes, all organ systems.”
18:00 – Timing & Quantity. DS – “The beauty of the product we’ve formulated is it makes timing and quantity very simple. The timing is around your training. The dosage and the absorption process is around how quickly the Fortigel and the Peptiplus get inside the system. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to use it. You need to take one serving before training.”
29:00 – Sports Specific Collagen. DS – “Our product is primarily focused on Type 1 and Type 2 Collagen. We needed to make sure the Amino Acid structure is short enough to be absorbed quickly.”
Use Momentous Collagen Peptides daily for long-term joint health, resilience to injury, and faster return to play.
